Once again Malawi and the village of Chinthowa have been hit by floods. The seeds had been planted and at first the rains were good, steady and gentle and the maize grew strongly but at the beginning of December torrential rains have been falling and all the best land by the dambo and river has flooded. All the crops there have been destroyed. The early harvest will not happen now and hunger will stay in the village for another year. Climate change is having a devastating effect on Sub-Saharan Africa.
